In order to overcome any kind of disorder, the well-experienced person has undergone research to heel it by means of therapy. The person who has shown working with such disorder and giving some of the therapy is a therapist. This may help for some and the therapy not helping some people.
Reasons that find therapy helpful or not
- Unhealthy underlying factors may be skewing the client’s perception of therapy.
This includes the thoughts, beliefs, actions, situations, and circumstances that motivate the unhealthy behavior. When therapy doesn’t work, this may skew our perception of the interactions that we have with others.
Unidentified and unresolved underlying factors can cause fears that pose resistance to the therapy. Each person possesses different kinds of struggle and they need specific therapy accordingly. This is especially true in the beginning until the main concerns are reduced.
To get the way to success, the goals should not be set. If the goals are unrealistic, then it seems to as if the therapy is not helpful. There will be a mismatch in the client’s struggle and the therapeutic approach used.
Therapy varies for each person based on the struggle
There needs a good bond in every relationship. The client and therapist also need a good bond between them. It will be difficult if there is a personality clash. Therapy doesn’t work for everyone because all the therapists are not equal.
Therapy takes a lot of time to work which usually much more than most people think. If the client is looking for faster progress, the expectation can be short for the reality of recovery. Most clients look for an inexpensive solution. The client’s recovery expectations are unrealistic
Relationship between client and therapist
If a client is not involved with the therapy as early, there may be misconceptions about the therapy and the therapeutic process. There is a need for the client to believe that they are able to help themselves.
The most common reason to conclude why isn’t therapy working for me is the client believes that the therapist is wrong in their point of view. This makes the client believe that they know more than the therapist does. Resistance is also a common factor why people believe therapy doesn’t work.
It is our own wish that everyone can overcome the disorders and live in the best way of lives filled with joy, great relationships, satisfaction, and peace without the help of a therapist.
